Is it covered? (quick verdict)
- Term depends on product type. Apparel, accessories, and packs (other than Voltair Airbag packs and related accessories) are covered for a "Practical Product Lifespan", which Arc'teryx Customer Service judges. Footwear and ski boots: 1 year. Climbing gear: 2 years. Voltair Airbag: 3 years or 50 inflations; Micon LiTRIC: 2 years (5 with registration) or 50 inflations [S1].
- What it covers: products that fail Arc'teryx's material and workmanship specifications under normal, individual use [S1].
- Who is covered: the original purchaser with valid proof of purchase from an authorized Arc'teryx dealer [S1].
- Remedy (Arc'teryx's choice): repair, same-model replacement, comparable replacement, or a voucher; one repair or replacement per original purchase [S1].
- Key exclusions: misuse, rips, cuts, burns, abrasions, down migration, normal wear and cosmetic damage, wrong laundering, unauthorized repairs, used or "as-is" purchases, counterfeits [S1].
Before you file: checklist
- [ ] Receipt: a photo of the original receipt from an authorized dealer is required with the claim [S1].
- [ ] Registration: not required for general claims; only the Micon LiTRIC 5-year term mentions registration [S1]. Otherwise Not stated by Arc'teryx.
- [ ] Authorized seller: purchases from auction sites, unauthorized marketplace dealers or altered products are not covered [S1].
- [ ] Photos and model name: the model name is usually on the white care label; if you cannot find it, send a photo of the product. Include clear photos of the issue [S2].
- [ ] Condition: keep holograms, date codes and tags in place, since removed or defaced ones are excluded [S1]. Do not return the item to the dealer [S1].
What a claim can cost
| Item | What Arc'teryx says | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Shipping to Arc'teryx | The limited warranty says you pay shipping, taxes and related charges and carry the risk of loss until receipt [S1]. The product service page does not say who pays inbound shipping [S2]. | S1, S2 |
| Return shipping | Arc'teryx covers return shipping [S2, S3]. | S2, S3 |
| Fees, deposits, card holds | Not stated by Arc'teryx. | n/a |
| Repair vs replacement | Arc'teryx chooses the remedy; a replacement does not restart the warranty period [S1]. | S1 |
| Non-warranty repair | Minor repairs (small tears, defective buckles, cord locks, zipper pulls) are free; complex repairs get a free evaluation and a quote you approve first [S2]. Uncovered repairs "may incur a fee" disclosed after assessment [S3]. | S2, S3 |
How to file, step by step
- Find the model name on the white care label inside the product [S2].
- Submit Arc'teryx's claim form (the Product Service Request) with photos of the receipt and the product, and agree to the warranty terms [S1, S2].
- Arc'teryx emails a confirmation and then next steps, which may include a Return Authorization Number and shipping instructions [S1].
- Ship the product with your case number and proof of purchase, using a tracked, insured service [S1, S3].
- Arc'teryx inspects it. If not covered, it returns the item or offers a repair at your expense that you must approve [S1].
In-store options exist at ReBIRD service centres and stores [S2, S3]. Phone: 1-866-458-2473, Monday to Friday, 6am to 5pm PT [S2].
How long does it take?
What Arc'teryx states: the limited warranty page gives a typical turnaround of 4 to 6 weeks [S1]. The repair page says assessment takes about 3 to 5 business days after receipt and the full repair roughly 2 to 5 weeks, depending on the work, region and season [S3]. The product service page gives no fixed number of days [S2].
Customer reports, not verified:
- One poster reported a 6 to 12 week wait in a Mountain Project thread in March 2020 [S4].
- One poster reported receiving a voucher within a few weeks of dropping off a jacket (Mountain Project, January 2020) [S4].
- One poster wrote in January 2020 that a "Practical Product Lifespan" standard led to a discounted replacement instead of a free one (Customer report, not verified) [S4].
Common reasons claims are denied
- Wear and tear, cosmetic damage, rips, cuts and burns fall outside the limited warranty [S1].
- Washing and care: failure to follow care instructions is excluded [S1].
- Purchase source: used, unauthorized-dealer, as-is and counterfeit items are excluded; the repair page also lists base layers, socks, harnesses and avalanche packs as ineligible for service [S1, S2].
Before you buy or if your claim is denied
Buy from an authorized dealer and keep the receipt, since a photo of it is required. If a claim is denied, ask for the reason in writing and check the repair route, which can fix some wear issues for a quoted fee. For US residents, the warranty page describes an arbitration process and an opt-out within 60 days of purchase [S1].
