Read a date, keep the uncertainty

Check a date code

Read only the first four numeric date-code characters. This tool runs in your browser. It does not send or save your code. Do not enter the rest of the serial number.

Read the supported format

Other eras and serial styles may use different codes. Confirm the format before relying on an estimate.

Date-code result

Unclear until you confirm the format and check a date code.

The manufacture date shown by the serial number is not the same as your warranty start date. Most warranties run from the installation or purchase date and can depend on registration and proof of purchase. Only Carrier can confirm whether your unit is covered.

Furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps and air handlers with the modern format, about 2000s onward. Confirm the format before interpreting a code.

Reading the manufacture date code

In the commonly reported modern format, the first two numeric characters give a production week from 01 to 53, followed by a two-digit year interpreted in the 2000s. A week code does not establish an exact calendar date.

Commonly reported decoding, based on independent published sources; not confirmed by Carrier. Verify with Carrier or your installer using your full serial number.
