Read a date, keep the uncertainty

Check a date code

Read only the first four numeric date-code characters. This tool runs in your browser. It does not send or save your code. Do not enter the rest of the serial number.

Read the supported format

Other eras and serial styles may use different codes. Confirm the format before relying on an estimate.

Date-code result

Unclear until you confirm the format and check a date code.

The manufacture date shown by the serial number is not the same as your warranty start date. Most warranties run from the installation or purchase date and can depend on registration and proof of purchase. Only Trane can confirm whether your unit is covered.

Furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps and air handlers using the 2010-onward format. This guide does not decode earlier serial systems.

Reading the manufacture date code

For the commonly reported 2010-onward format, read a two-digit year first, followed by a production week from 01 to 53. Interpret the year in the 2000s only after confirming this format. No exact calendar date is inferred.

Commonly reported decoding, based on independent published sources; not confirmed by Trane. Verify with Trane or your installer using your full serial number.
